ERM’s Great Lakes & Northeast Business Unit is growing. We’re looking for a motivated, detail‑oriented Consulting Associate, Environmental Geology/Science/Engineering to support impactful site investigation, remediation, and hazardous waste management projects. You’ll contribute to protecting communities, restoring impacted environments, and ensuring safe, sustainable land use across the region—and occasionally across the U.S. or globally. - Required
- BS in geology, hydrogeology, environmental science, or environmental engineering (or 8+ years of relevant experience).
- Recent graduate to 2 years of experience, including willingness/interest in field assignments.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including ability to document detailed technical data.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across project teams.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem‑solving aptitude.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments while meeting deadlines in a consulting-paced environment.
- Commitment to safety and adherence to established Health & Safety protocols.
- Driver's License
Required:
valid driver’s license and/or ability to operate a company vehicle due to travel to client locations across a large geographical area. - Willingness to travel regionally up to 75% (with overnights) and perform 25% office-based work.

- Preferred
- Prior environmental field experience.
- 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification.
- Mechanical aptitude and hands‑on troubleshooting skills.
- Conduct field work, including soil, sediment, groundwater, surface water, waste, and building material sampling.
- Aquifer testing, drilling oversight, soil logging, and well installation.
- Monitoring well development, purging, sampling, and construction oversight.
- Coordinate and direct subcontractors such as drillers, surveyors, and laboratories.
- Support environmental remediation and demolition projects, including system operations and maintenance.
- Compile, analyze, and interpret environmental datasets (soil, groundwater, air, sediment, etc.).
- Prepare technical figures, exhibits, and reports for regulatory submittals.
- Review groundwater chemistry data to support environmental assessments and reporting.
- Perform Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments for property transactions.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
- Manage work within defined scopes, schedules, budgets, and quality expectations.
- Communicate effectively with subcontractors, regulatory agencies, tenants, and clients during field activities.
Pay range for the Consulting Associate, Environmental Geology/Science/Engineering position is anticipated to be $66,081–$81,353 (USD) annually. Actual pay will depend on factors such as education, experience, skills, location, performance, and business needs. In some cases, pay may fall outside this range. This role may be eligible for bonus pay.
