Our partner is a leading firearms manufacturer seeking a Chief Engineer - Sustainment to lead ongoing engineering improvements across existing product lines. This role is responsible for driving cost reduction, engineering changes, and product performance enhancements while ensuring all designs meet strict safety, quality, and durability standards. This is a highly visible leadership role with strong cross‑functional influence.
Key Responsibilities- Lead sustaining engineering initiatives, including cost reduction, design changes, and product improvements.
- Own technical performance and manufacturability of existing product lines.
- Oversee prototype development, testing, and validation of engineering changes.
- Conduct engineering analysis and simulations to improve performance and reliability.
- Ensure all changes meet safety, regulatory, and customer requirements.
- Utilize CAD and PLM systems to maintain models, drawings, and technical documentation.
- Mentor engineers and establish technical standards and best practices.
- BS in Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Background in firearms design.
- Deep understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and complex mechanical systems.
- Experience with cost reduction, DFM, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Proficiency in GD&T and engineering documentation.
- Experience with advanced manufacturing processes (casting, molding, machining, etc.).
- Familiarity with CAD (CREO), PLM systems, and ERP tools.
- Experience supporting both commercial and government-related products.
