Loureiro Engineering Associates, Inc. is seeking an EHS Specialist for our Plainville, CT location. Responsibilities
  • Perform daily inspections of work areas, practices, equipment, vehicles, and containers to verify compliance with client and governmental EHS regulations.
  • Track contractor EHS performance.
  • Communicate inspection findings to client project managers and contractor contacts as needed.
  • Attend contractor meetings and toolbox talks.
  • Provide contractor training on site as needed.
  • Serve as liaison for Permit to Work processes, including verifying and managing field conditions:
    • Sign off and close hot work permits.
    • Verify Permit Required Confined Space entry setup, communicate client assessments, and follow up.
    • Verify Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), communicate client assessments, and follow up.
    • Verify proper isolation of client employees from work activities (barricades, traffic routing, negative pressure).
    • Verify fall protection for work performed at heights.
    • Periodically visit permit areas to evaluate compliance.
    • Correct out‑of‑compliance issues.
  • Assist with contractor vetting, audits, EHS reviews, and corrective action plans:
    • Review contractor policies and manuals as directed.
    • Review contractor training as directed.
    • Track compliance with corrective action plans.
    • Work with Construct Secure to add new contractors as directed.
  • Investigate incidents as directed.
  • Investigate client employee concerns as directed.
  • Track contractor hazardous substance use on site and ensure SDSs are maintained in the system.
  • Assist with revising and creating contractor management policies and procedures as directed:
    • Contractor manual
    • Contractor vetting process
    • Permit to work
  • Assist with planning and implementation of safety improvement projects as directed.
  • Assist with incident investigations, substance reviews, hazard assessments, and industrial hygiene projects as directed.
  • Order, maintain, and troubleshoot equipment as directed:
    • Radar signs
    • Temperature scanners
    • Gas meters
Requirements
  • A self‑driven and motivated professional.
  • A strong communicator with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail‑oriented with strong observation skills.
  • Able to thrive in a fast‑paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Able to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Motivated to create and perform high‑quality work.
  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, industrial hygiene, or related discipline.
  • 1‑5 years’ experience in environmental, health, and safety preferred.
  • Knowledge of hazard communication, LOTO, machine guarding, confined spaces, fall protection, and job safety analysis.
  • Professional certification (CSP, CHMM, CIH) preferred.
  • Ability to travel to client sites.
  • Candidates must be eligible to work in the USA without sponsorship.
