For more than a decade, Island Exterior Fabricators (IEF) has operated as a privately owned practice specializing in the delivery of bespoke, high-performing prefabricated facade systems. Our 50-acre manufacturing campus is headquartered in Calverton, New York, and supported by design and engineering offices in Manhattan, Boston, and Hartford.

Our organization is fully self-sustained, supported by state-of-the-art equipment and facilities that enable us to deliver a high-quality product. Our production capabilities, installation network, and bonding capacity allow Island to complete large-scale, complex projects in a timely, efficient manner.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

As a System Designer III at IEF, you will be accountable for developing concepts, designs, and details for façade systems, including materials, shapes, and attachment methods. The SD3 will collaborate closely with structural and thermal engineers to ensure that the design meets project requirements and comply with structural and environmental needs. They will also coordinate and present their designs to the design team and consultants, ensuring alignment with the overall project vision.

Additionally, the SD3 will oversee the design process through to the successful completion of a Performance Mockup.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop concept, design and details for the façade system which may include materials, shapes and attachments.
• Work closely with the structural and thermal engineers to make sure the design meets the project requirements.
• Coordinate and present design to the design team and consultant
• Oversee the design through the completion of a successful Performance Mockup.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Knowledge of curtain wall and exterior façade systems
• Good understanding of materials, both construction materials and materials commonly used in curtain wall
• Creative thinking with problem solving abilities

SOFTWARE PROFICENCY:

Autocad
· Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, Teams)
· Revu Bluebeam
· Navisworks – preferred, not required
· Rhino – Beneficial, not required

Hartford, CT/ Boston, MA/

Schedule:

Monday-Friday 8am-5pm - Hybrid
