The Connecticut Department of Public Health seeks an Environmental Engineer 2 to support the development and implementation of an Alternative Treatment Systems (ATS) program within the Regulatory Affairs Branch's Environmental Health Section. The role involves reviewing and permitting ATS designs, providing technical assistance and enforcement support, and conducting site assessments and system inspections. This hybrid position works 35 hours per week supporting Connecticut's environmental infrastructure improvements and housing development goals.
Keyqualifications
- Six years of experience in environmental engineering involving water/sewage treatment, industrial waste, or environmental pollution investigation
- Experience with subsurface sewage installation or alternative treatment systems
- Knowledge of environmental engineering principles related to water supply, sewage treatment, and water purification
- Ability to conduct detailed engineering investigations and prepare/review technical plans and sketches
- Strong oral and written communication skills with ability to convey technical information to various audiences
- Experience working in a regulatory or enforcement capacity
