Lead Substation Project Engineer

Leidos is seeking a Lead Substation Project Engineer to deliver high quality substation engineering solutions for utility and critical infrastructure clients. In this role, you will lead multi disciplinary project teams, develop and review substation physical and protection/control designs, and ensure compliance with NESC, IEEE, IEC, and utility standards. You will manage project scope, schedule, budget, and risk while coordinating with internal stakeholders, clients, and vendors.

The role includes mentoring junior engineers, supporting proposal development, and driving continuous improvement in quality, safety, and engineering practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead substation engineering projects for utility and critical infrastructure clients
• Develop and review physical layout, grounding, and protection/control designs
• Ensure designs comply with NESC, IEEE, IEC, and customer standards
• Manage project scope, schedule, budget, and technical risk
• Coordinate with internal teams, clients, and vendors to resolve issues
• Prepare engineering calculations, studies, and technical documentation
• Provide technical leadership and mentor junior engineers and designers
• Support proposals, estimates, and technical input for business development
• Oversee quality assurance and adherence to safety and regulatory requirements
• Drive process improvements and adoption of digital engineering tools
