POSITION SUMMARY

The Capitol Region Council of Governments (CRCOG) is seeking an enthusiastic and collaborative professional to become our newest Transportation Planner. This position is responsible for a variety of planning activities within the Transportation Planning Department and reports to the Deputy Director of Transportation Planning.

Note: This is a Grade 3 position.

CRCOG has posted three concurrent positions in its Transportation Planning Department. Depending on the strength of the applicant pool, CRCOG intends to hire two of the three.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide transportation planning, research, and policy analysis for the greater CRCOG region;
  • Support numerous CRCOG planning studies, including the RFQ process, consultant selection, contracting, invoicing, and reviewing deliverables;
  • Work with other staff to help the Agency and municipalities complete transportation projects and initiatives, such as regional and local scenario planning analyses, walk audits, other projects and initiatives;
  • Assist and support traffic analyses and walk audits
  • Assist in organizing Transportation Committee meetings and activities
  • Assist with community and public engagement activities related to transportation planning,
  • Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate will hold a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Urban/Regional Planning, Urban Studies, Geography, Civil Engineering, or related field. A Master's degree is preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of:

  • Transportation planning principles and practices.;
  • Federal transportation planning regulations;
  • Government operations;

Ability to:

  • Speak in public, providing information and answering questions
  • Prioritize work assignments across multiple concurrent projects and remain effective under pressure of variable deadlines.
  • Establish and maintain highly effective working relationships with CRCOG management and staff, committee members, municipal officials, consultants, and members of the public.

Skills:

  • Strong oral and written communication skills;
  • Proficiency with word-processing and spreadsheets and other software.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Work is performed mostly in an office setting and remotely. CRCOG currently has a 50/50 hybrid policy. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this role.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

CRCOG offers a competitive benefits package including a defined contribution retirement plan (currently 10% of salary with no match required); medical, vision, dental, life insurance; short-term and long-term disability; tuition assistance; and paid vacation and holidays.

CRCOG has a minimum 35-hour work week.

Salary Range: $ 59,994 - $77,992
