About the role:
The Actuarial Analyst, Pricing Operations & Portfolio Management will support Vantage Insurance’s Pricing and Portfolio Management functions. Working directly with the Head of Pricing Operations & Strategy and the Chief Pricing & Portfolio Actuary, the analyst will maintain and run models, tools, and processes to keep these functions scalable and fit for purpose. The role involves ownership of established pricing operations and portfolio management work, with a strong focus on detail, problem‑solving, and continuous improvement.
Candidates should commit to pursuing professional credentials from the Casualty Actuarial Society through examinations or relevant work experience.
- Assist Head of Pricing Operations & Strategy with all established pricing operations, including:
- Collection and reporting of pricing metrics.
- Review of pricing model maturity.
- Pricing data collection, validation, and reporting.
- Pricing model documentation.
- Integration and deployment of completed pricing models.
- Assist Chief Pricing & Portfolio Actuary with portfolio management, including:
- Day-to-day stewardship of portfolio management dashboards and other products.
- Ensure data correctness and expedite corrections when errors occur.
- Design and prototype new tools for portfolio management in collaboration with the Data Team.
- Analyze trends in pricing metrics and price adequacy across the Insurance segment.
- Oversee annual loss ratio planning on behalf of the business unit pricing actuaries.
- Centralize pricing data reporting for reinsurance placements, regulatory data calls, and similar exercises.
- Take on other ad hoc work and projects as directed by the Insurance Pricing Team.
- Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, computer science, mathematics, statistics, or a related field; or equivalent experience.
- 1–4 years of actuarial experience (new graduates with relevant CAS credits encouraged).
- At least two CAS exams passed preferred; a desire to pursue further actuarial credentials required.
- Proven creative problem‑solving and meticulous attention to detail.
- Mandatory experience with scripting and programming: R and SQL.
- Basic familiarity with Git and Git Hub.
- Excel VBA experience is a plus.
- Ability to adapt quickly in a rapidly growing, new‑company environment.
Base salary range: $80,000–$110,000, commensurate with experience. The role includes performance‑based bonus potential, comprehensive health and welfare benefits, retirement plans with company match, competitive time‑off, and a flexible work environment. The position requires 2–3 days per week in the West Hartford, Connecticut office but offers remote or hybrid options for the right candidate.
