Position:
Assistant Director, Financial Analysis & Reporting. Responsible for the coordination, execution, and governance of monthly enterprise financial reporting and close activities. Ensures accuracy, timeliness, and consistency of expense, workforce, and operational reporting delivered to senior finance leadership. Serves as central integration point across FP&A, Reporting & Analytics, Workforce Financial Management, and TM1, with significant responsibility during month‑end, Outlook, and quarter‑end cycles.
Hybrid work arrangement: office (Hartford, CT) 3 days a week (Tue‑Thu).
- Lead, mentor and develop team of financial professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
- Monthly Close & Reporting Execution: manage and maintain the monthly financial production schedule; ensure all reporting dependencies, data loads, validations, and refreshes are completed on time; coordinate and oversee month‑end close activities; participate in and support enterprise close forums and huddles to resolve issues and ensure ready deliverables.
- Financial Analysis & Management Reporting: support preparation, review, and refinement of monthly enterprise expense reporting; provide variance analysis, commentary, leadership‑level summaries; review and validate actual‑to‑outlook variance files and supporting explanations; provide quality assurance and governance oversight for recurring finance deliverables such as enterprise flash summaries.
- Workforce & Data Governance: coordinate monthly TM1 data readiness with TM1 team, validate loads, resolve issues; oversee and review monthly workforce‑related reporting, including staffing reconciliations, active employee listings, requisitions, bonus files; ensure Workforce Financial Planning and HR data dependencies align with close timelines.
- Cross‑Functional Coordination & Leadership: act as central point of coordination across FP&A, Reporting & Analytics, Workforce Management, and TM1; provide prioritization, guidance, and coverage planning for reporting activities during peak close, holiday, and quarter‑end periods; partner with finance leadership to anticipate reporting needs, manage risks, and deliver leadership‑ready outputs under compressed timelines.
- Advanced financial analysis and variance interpretation.
- Strong understanding of enterprise expense and workforce reporting.
- Experience managing month‑end close and reporting processes.
- Proficiency working with financial systems and planning tools (e.g., TM1, workforce planning platforms).
- Strong organization, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to lead through influence in a matrixed environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Progressive experience in financial analysis, reporting, or FP&A roles.
- Preferred: experience supporting enterprise‑level close and reporting cycles.
The annualized base pay range for this role is: $110,800 - $166,200. Base pay may vary based on factors including performance and competencies. The base pay is one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package. Other rewards may include short‑term or annual bonuses, long‑term incentives, and on‑the‑spot recognition.
