Job Description

The Manager, Capital Expenditures is a key contributor within the Finance department, responsible for the accurate accounting, reporting, and budgeting of capital expenditures across all hospital and specialty group departments. Core areas of responsibility include fixed asset accounting, accounting for capital and financing leases in accordance with ASC 842, capital budget preparation and tracking, and compliance with bond, Board, and regulatory reporting requirements.

This position manages capital activity through the fixed assets module in Oracle, supports month-end close, and serves as a subject matter expert on capital expenditure matters. The Manager, Capital Expenditures works collaboratively with Financial Planning, Financial Reporting, Supply Chain, Financial Operations, and Accounts Payable, and operates with a high degree of independence while adhering to established policies, procedures, and applicable regulations.

This role is expected to demonstrate leadership through subject matter expertise, cross-functional collaboration, and ownership of deliverables.

Responsibilities

Fixed Asset Accounting & Oracle Management-20%

  • Manages all capital activity within the Oracle fixed assets module, including additions, disposals, transfers, and adjustments.
  • Ensures accurate and timely capitalization of assets in accordance with CCMC capitalization policies and GAAP.
  • Maintains complete and organized fixed asset records, including asset tags, useful lives, and depreciation methods.
  • Performs periodic physical inventory reconciliations to verify asset existence and location.
  • Manages all financing agreements related to capital and operational equipment.

Month-End Close & Financial Reporting-20%

  • Prepares and records monthly depreciation and amortization journal entries for fixed assets and capital/financing leases.
  • Completes monthly fixed asset account reconciliations and roll forward schedules.
  • Prepares financing lease amortization schedules and related interest expense entries in compliance with ASC 842.
  • Reviews capital expenditure activity for proper classification between capital and operating expense.
  • Resolves reconciling items and outstanding variances in a timely manner.

Capital Budget Preparation & Tracking-20%

  • Supports the annual capital budget process, coordinating with department leaders to gather and validate capital project requests.
  • Performs as the subject matter expert in future projects to implement capital budget modules/work flows.
  • Prepares and maintains monthly budget-to-actual tracking reports for capital expenditures, highlighting variances and trends.
  • Provides actionable analysis and narrative explanations to Finance leadership and department managers.
  • Monitors the status of approved capital projects and communicates funding or timeline concerns proactively.

Regulatory, Board & External Reporting-20%

  • Prepares all required deliverables for bond covenant reporting, OHS reporting, personal property tax declarations and Board of Directors presentations related to capital expenditures
