POSITION SUMMARY

The Service Advisor at Cowen Tax Advisory Group plays a pivotal role in both the planning and servicing of our clients' financial lives. Working directly alongside our founder and our Financial Advisor, you will help bring The Feel Good Retirement Plan® to life: building tailored plans that address income, investments, taxes, health care, and legacy while delivering the high-touch, personalized service our clients have come to expect.

This role begins with a focus on client service and planning support, with the opportunity to grow into a client-facing advisory role over time.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop, prepare, and update comprehensive financial plans integrating clients' retirement income, investment, tax, health care, and legacy objectives in alignment with The Feel Good Retirement Plan® framework.
  • Conduct in-depth research on financial strategies, including tax planning, retirement income, investments, life insurance, and fixed indexed annuities, to support advisor recommendations and strengthen client outcomes.
  • Assist with the setup and management of investment accounts, annuity products, life insurance policies, and other retirement solutions tailored to each client's situation and goals.
  • Monitor client progress toward their financial goals and prepare timely plan updates, adjustments, and analysis to keep each plan current and aligned with the client's evolving needs.
  • Support the preparation of pre-appointment materials, financial summaries, and presentation packages to ensure every client meeting is polished, organized, and impactful.
  • Stay current on industry developments, product updates, and regulatory changes.
Client Service & Relationship Management
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for assigned client households, addressing inquiries and resolving service needs with the warmth, directness, and attentiveness that define the Cowen experience.
  • Build and nurture trust-based relationships by anticipating client needs, following through consistently, and delivering personalized service that makes every client feel genuinely cared for, not just serviced.
  • Lead client review meetings, preparing agendas, capturing notes, and drafting follow-up communications that summarize discussions, confirm action items, and reinforce confidence in the plan.
  • Proactively reach out to clients throughout the year to deliver meaningful touchpoints, ensure they are heard, and demonstrate that we are happy when our clients are happy.
  • Support account servicing requests including beneficiary designations, Required Minimum Distributions (RMDs), distribution requests, and other account administration needs.
  • Attend and support client education events and seminars, which are typically held on weekday evenings.
CRM & Documentation Management
  • Maintain accurate, detailed records of all client interactions, financial plans, account changes, and correspondence within the firm's CRM system.
  • Document client service activities, meeting notes, and follow-up tasks in real time to ensure full team visibility and compliance with firm and regulatory recordkeeping standards.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, or a related field
  • Active Series 65 license
  • Connecticut Life & Health Insurance license
  • 2+ years of experience in financial services, retirement planning, or a related field
  • Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a genuine, client-first approach
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
COMPENSATION

Starting salary of $70,000, with commissions and bonuses added after the first year.
