THE ROLE Responsibilities

The Consumer Protection Gaming Investigator is responsible for independently performing a full range of tasks in investigating complaints and alleged violations of state laws and regulations pertaining to state regulated lottery, pari-mutuel operations, iCasino, daily fantasy sport contest, retail & online sports wagering. The DCP Gaming Investigator will report to the Lead Gaming Investigator and Division Director. Other responsibilities of the Gaming Investigator include:

  • Conducts surveillance;
  • Interviews witnesses, complainants and others to obtain information;
  • Secures evidence in form of statements, documents, records and exhibits for use in administrative hearings and court;
  • Investigates backgrounds of licensees, subcontractors and agents;
  • Analyzes financial records and other reports;
  • Identifies possible threats to internal and external security;
  • Gathers information and writes reports;
  • Prepares and submits affidavits and applications for arrest warrants;
  • Apprehends suspects and makes arrests;
  • Presents cases in court;
  • Performs related duties as required.
About Us

The (DCP) Gaming Division is responsible for regulating legal gambling programs in Connecticut, which is comprised of casinos, lottery, off-track betting, sports wagering, online gaming, and fantasy contests. This is accomplished through a rigorous program of game and system approvals, licensing, inspections, monitoring, audits, and investigations which are conducted to best safeguard consumer interest and integrity of the gaming process.
