The State of Connecticut , Office of the Lieutenant Governor , is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Director of External Affairs and Deputy Communications Director (Executive Office Administrative Aide
1). The individual will plan and execute public events, lead digital communications strategy and execution, oversee constituent services, and co-manage the office’s internship program.

Appointed by the Governor in accordance with the provisions of Sections 3-1 and 5-198 (10) and (18) of the Connecticut General Statutes.
Key Responsibilities- Event planning:
Plan, execute, and staff public events hosted by the Lt. Governor. - Memorandum drafting:
Prepare and draft memos for events attended by the Lieutenant Governor. - Social media:
Develop and execute regular social media content across Facebook, Instagram, X/Twitter, and Linked In. - Digital content:
Produce short‑form video content featuring the Lt. Governor. - Constituent services:
Oversee all constituent inquiries received and determine the appropriate routing to state agencies, legislators, or municipal officials. - Acting Communications Director:
Serve as Acting Communications Director during absences, including handling press coordination, drafting statements, and updating the website as needed. - Internship program:
Co-manage recruitment, interviewing, onboarding, training, scheduling, and supervision of interns.

In the Office of the Governor or Lieutenant Governor this class serves as an assistant in a wide variety of administrative, staff or liaison functions.
Preferred Qualifications- Communications and digital content creation experience
- Excellent writing and interpersonal skills
- Experience managing sensitive and confidential information with discretion
- Experience working in a fast‑paced environment and adapting quickly to shifting priorities
