DSS takes part in the E-Verify system, which is a web-based system that allows enrolled employers to confirm the eligibility of their employees to work in the United States.
Salary Calculations:
For current state employees, salary calculations are not necessarily comparable from one of the three branches of state government (i.e., Executive, Legislative, Judicial) to the other.
In the Department of Social Services, Office of Child Support Services this class is accountable for independently performing a full range of tasks in the service of warrants and capias mittimus orders and investigation and enforcement of statutes governing child support fraud.
Examples of Duties- Coordinates all capias activities in child support cases;
- Serves warrants or capias mittimus orders issued by Family Support Magistrates or Courts for Bureau of Child Support Enforcement, Judicial Support Enforcement Division and Office of the Attorney General for child support cases;
- Determines if probable cause exists to warrant case prosecution;
- Gathers evidence through surveillance and use of informants;
- Takes statements and prepares summaries;
- Obtains and serves warrants for arrest or capias orders issued by courts;
- Apprehends suspects and makes arrests;
- Presents information to court as necessary;
- Prepares detailed reports for prosecutors;
- Interacts with defense attorneys;
- Maintains case records;
- Performs related duties as required.

- General Experience
Five (5) years of experience in conducting criminal investigations.
Minimum Qualifications- Substitutions Allowed
College training may be substituted for the General Experience on the basis of fifteen (15) semester hours equalling one-half (1/2) year of experience to a maximum of four (4) years for a Bachelor's degree.
Special Requirements- Incumbents in this class must possess and retain a valid Motor Vehicle Operator’s license.
- Incumbents in this class must obtain and retain appointment by the Commissioner of Emergency Services and Public Protection as a Special Police Officer.
- Candidates for this class are subject to selection standards pursuant to Section 7-294a - e of the Connecticut General Statutes and regulations of the Connecticut Police Officer Standards and Training Council.
