The Role
Alternative treatment systems utilize advanced mechanical technologies that surpass conventional septic systems in treating wastewater and removing pollutants. This program will work closely with the Environmental Engineering Program. The ATS Program will address environmental and housing development needs in Connecticut and will help DPH assist with achieving the Governor's housing development goals and addressing the unique wastewater management challenges in underserved areas.
WhatYou'll Be Doing
Under the direct supervision of a Durational Project Manager, this position will be responsible for duties that will include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Developing licensure requirements for AT system installers and operators in conjunction with the Environmental Practitioner Licensure Program
- Managing a data tracking system for AT system compliance
- Coordinating with the Environmental Practitioner Licensure Program for training and certification of local health officials
- Overseeing enforcement matters related to AT systems

PURPOSE OF JOB CLASS (NATURE OF WORK)In the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection this class is accountable for independently performing a full range of tasks in the technical review and analysis of environmental program data and issues within the environmental field, developing recommendations on courses of action and assisting with the implementation of policy and program decisions.
