The State of Connecticut, Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP), is looking to hire aSupervising Environmental Analyst for the Compliance Analysis and Coordination Unit within the Enforcement Division of the Bureau of Air Management.

Position details:

The candidate selected to fill this position will supervise the Compliance Analysis and Coordination Unit within the Enforcement Division of the Bureau of Air Management. The Compliance Analysis and Coordination Unit is responsible for performing various compliance assurance and enforcement duties under the federal Clean Air Act and state air quality laws, including with respect to synthetic minor coverage, compliance reporting, emission trading, and off-site partial compliance evaluations/information request.

Specific

duties of this position include:
  • The incumbent will provide direction and leadership to the unit’s staff.
  • Provide programmatic oversight of the unit’s areas of responsibility; and develop new and strategic initiatives, processes, and workflows to advance the unit’s objectives.
  • Work closely with the Enforcement Division’s four other supervisors to ensure a cohesive approach to all compliance and enforcements matters.
  • Be responsible for ensuring the timeliness, quality, and technical integrity of the unit’s work.
  • The incumbent will likewise be responsible for supervising the unit’s staff, which will entail assigning job tasks, reviewing work products, providing training and other professional development opportunities, writing and presenting performance appraisals, and other relevant duties.
  • Liaise closely with Division and Bureau management on technical, policy, and administrative matters.
Position highlights:
  • This position will be located at DEEP Headquarters, at 79 Elm Street, Hartford, CT 06106, and will involve overseeing staff that work a hybrid schedule.
  • This is a full-time, 35 hour per week, Monday-Friday position.
  • The position may include opportunities for a hybrid schedule that includes telework.
  • This position will require occasional in-state travel in support of the unit's work.
  • This position may require infrequent out-of-state travel for training and to attend regional and national work groups and conferences.
