MHC has a Full-Time opening, Monday - Friday 9:00 am - 5:00 pm with flexibility as needed, for a Senior Wellness Specialist in our Art of Wellbeing program. A qualified candidate for this position must be fluent in both Spanish and English in regards to speaking, reading, writing, understanding, and presenting. This position will oversee the day-to-day operations of the Art of Wellbeing programming and workshops located inside the Hispanic Health Council’s Wellness Center environment in Harford.

The Senior Wellness Specialist will use modeling and experiential techniques to provide skill building opportunities in various areas of health, art, and wellness within the Wellness Center, Independence Center, and statewide residential programs. The Senior Wellness Specialist will promote and facilitate health, art, and wellness workshops externally to community partners.

Salary: $22.00 per hour. MHC offers a competitive benefits package which includes:

Requirements

The Senior Wellness Specialist responsibilities include:

  • Work with program participants individually and in groups at the Hartford Wellness Center, Independence Center, and statewide residential programs to utilize art as a catalyst to wellness and recovery.
  • Coordinate, compile, and prepare participants’ art for use in special events and activities.
  • Schedule and attend art events in the community with external partners, staff, and/or program participants.
  • Represent the agency in a professional manner, communicating the agency’s mission and vision, while building rapport and trust with external partners while hosting tables at community events.
  • May be asked to provide coverage support at the Independence Center as needed.
  • Design and implement mainly art workshops and activities based on participant choices and interests which help to improve skills related to physical, spiritual, emotional, and mental health.
  • Required to transport program supplies (with a weight between approx. 5 to 30 pounds), and/or art of wellbeing materials in personal or company vehicle locally and within the state to MHC residential sites. May be required to transport participants in personal vehicle.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or associate’s in social science or related field with two years related experience preferred. High school diploma/equivalent required.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English in regard to speaking, reading, writing, understanding, and presenting required.
  • Experience with group and workshop facilitation required.
  • Experience in a mental health, human services and in supportive arts programing preferred.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Recovery Support Specialist (RSS) certification preferred, but not required.
  • Valid driver's license, auto registration, and insurance.
