Job Description
Full Time Opportunity Monday–Friday with one Saturday per month – paying $21/hr, with great company benefits.
Medical Assistant Sign‑on: $500 signing bonus at 90 days if Registered (RMA) or Certified (AAMA or NHA); $500 sign‑on at 9 months if not yet Registered; if already RMA or CMA at time of hire, will be paid $1,000 sign‑on.
On a daily basis, provides clinical and technical support for primary care providers. Implements all planned care items using electronic tools to ensure efficient and accurate workflow. Monitors equipment and performs clinical testing according to OSHA and CLIA standards. Liaises with patients, families, specialists, and all members of the health care team. With the primary care nurse and provider, ensures continuity and coordination of care in a patient‑centered medical home.
Roleand Responsibilities
- Apply evidence‑based guidelines from major regulatory and specialty groups, perform pre‑visit preparation for all primary care patients scheduled to be seen.
- In collaboration with the primary care nurse and provider, conduct e‑huddles using the Planned Care Dashboard to ensure complete and thorough primary care visits.
- Prepare patients to be seen by provider in the telehealth environment, including guiding them on the use of video telehealth technology.
- Manage virtual telehealth sessions for multiple providers using Zoom, setting up virtual exam rooms, admitting patients, and pre‑visit preparation.
- Support clinical teams in collecting paperwork, requesting records, scheduling follow‑up visits, and other administrative tasks.
- Collaborate with providers, clinical, and clerical support staff to facilitate appropriate telehealth patient flow.
- Accurately document chief complaint and results from evidence‑based screening tests.
- Accurately perform and document patient vital signs.
- Independently and accurately perform appropriate CLIA waived tests, EKG, hearing, and vision tests.
- Prioritize work responsibilities each day to decrease waiting time; collaborate with staff to facilitate patient flow; schedule tests and referrals for specialty care in accordance with provider orders.
- Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe working environment; oversee supplies and documents in medical logs as directed.
- Set up and stock exam rooms, clean rooms at the end of each workday.
- Adhere to all infection control standards, Universal Precautions, and safety policies of the Agency; maintain yearly CPR certification as required for all clinical employees.
- Exhibit excellent customer service to external and internal customers; focus on quality of care and teamwork in line with agency mission.
- Comply with agency‑mandated in‑service training workshops (EOC, Working Safely, Abuse, etc.).
- High school diploma or equivalency.
- Completion of a Medical Assistant course from an accredited/recognized school.
- Medical Assistant board certification (AAMA, NHA) or registration (AMT) achieved within 90 days of hire.
- Experience with EKG use, appointment scheduling, word processing, computer skills, and familiarity with medical testing procedures.
- Sound organizational skills and accuracy at all levels of the job.
- Prior demonstrated excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Team‑focused with demonstrated leadership qualities.
- Current American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer and AED (CPR/FPR/AED) certification, or American Heart Association BLS/AED for Healthcare Providers.
- Bilingual.
- Expert knowledge of the electronic health record.
- CPR certified.
- Requires manual dexterity to perform clinical tasks; moderate physical activity including standing, walking, and lifting.
- Potential exposure to blood‑borne pathogens and/or bio‑hazardous material.
Communicates clinical/client information to providers accurately. Accurately takes messages and communicates on the telephone. Communicates effectively with other medical assistants; collaborates with medical providers and nursing staff. Accesses clients’ charts and health care information. Maintains client confidentiality.
Confidentiality of InformationFull access to patients’ medical records, accounts, and some agency procedural manuals. Confidentiality must be maintained according to CHC policies.
