Position: Residential Cleaning and Direct Care Staff - Hartford (Part-time)

Residential Cleaning And Direct Care Staff

The Center for Human Development (CHD) is seeking Residential Cleaning and Direct Care Staff to join our team at our Community Transitional Living Program (CTLP) in Hartford, CT. Our residential direct care staff establish life-changing relationships with our clients and provide opportunities to optimize their independence, rehabilitation, and recovery.

CTLP is a community-based transitional independent living environment for up to 19 eligible adults with severe and persistent mental health diagnoses that will benefit from temporary residential support. The ideal candidate will have a strong desire to help others and make an impact in their community. The primary focus of this role is the cleaning of clients apartments while helping instill good habits and encouraging independence.

Some additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Clean and maintain clients' apartments, including kitchens, bathrooms, living areas, and bedrooms
  • Modeling cleaning routines and encouraging them to be self sufficient
  • Offering guidance, and helping them stay organized
  • Clean common areas, stairwells, hallways, and other common spaces
  • Provide direct care support, such as:
    • Supporting clients' activities of daily living
    • Providing opportunities to optimize their independence, rehabilitation, and recovery
    • Develop professional and supportive relationships with clients and provide informal counseling and guidance with a person-centered focus

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid driver's license
  • Registered & insured vehicle available for work purposes
  • Approved criminal background and driving check
  • Experience working with psychiatric disorders or co-occurring population preferred

Schedule:

Monday 5:00pm-9:00pm, Tuesday 5:00pm-9:00pm, Wednesday 5:00pm-9:00pm, Thursday 5:00pm-9:00pm. Days off:
Sunday, Friday, Saturday.

The ideal candidate takes pride in maintaining clean, safe, and organized spaces and is comfortable working alongside participants to help clean their individual apartments. A successful team member brings compassion, patience, and strong interpersonal skills, and can support individuals respectfully while encouraging independence. Reliability, clear communication, and the ability to work both independently and within a team are essential.

This is a part time position offering 20 hours/week with a somewhat flexible schedule. Ideal schedule is 5:00pm-9:00pm, Monday-Thursday, but there is some flexibility depending on availability of candidates.
