POSITION:
Mental Health Clinician

LOCATION:

M.D. Fox School/Sanchez Elementary School

REPORTS TO:

Health Services Coordinator and or Senior Executive Director of Special Education and Pupil Services

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Provide clinical mental health services to students enrolled in the School Based Health Center.

• Provide psychosocial assessment to students.
• Provide individual and group counseling to students and their parents.
• Provide crisis intervention.
• Refer students to appropriate community resources for social and mental health services when needed.
• Aid in developing standard procedures to handle crisis.
• Work as a team with the School Based Health Center staff and other staff from the school.
• Serve as Field Instructor for student interns.
• Help clinic staff identify students at risk, and facilitate access to appropriate services.
• Provide written documentation and billing documentation of all services.
• Provide monthly reports and maintain records as required by School Clinic and the Department of Public Health.
• Advise on and promote mental health issues relevant to the student population and the clinic.
• Contribute to the development of standard operational procedures for mental health related services at one specific school.
• Participate in staff development within the clinic and school.
• Perform other duties as required.

• Master's Degree from an accredited institution of higher education in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Counseling, or Psychology required.
• Licensed by the State of Connecticut Department of Public Health as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) required.
• Bilingual, Spanish/English preferred.
• Demonstrated success in working with school aged children, adolescents and families.
• Ability to work autonomously as well as cooperatively with school and community groups.
• Prior experience as a community clinic provider.
• Ability to work under difficult time constraints.
• Knowledge of services and resources available in the Hartford area.

Non-Certified.

Ten-month work year. Salary Grid A506 ($55,641 - $67,015)
