Position Summary:
The ideal candiate must reside in Central Conneticut. The Field Service Technician I repairs, sharpens, and maintains surgical instruments at customer sites. Working alongside senior technicians, this role helps ensure instruments are functioning properly while providing excellent customer service and support.
- Repair and maintain surgical instruments with guidance from senior technicians.
- Perform on-site inspections, testing, maintenance, and repairs.
- Troubleshoot instrument issues and determine appropriate solutions.
- Complete repairs accurately and on time.
- Build strong relationships with customers and provide excellent service.
- Work with Sales teams to support business growth in the territory.
- Understand customer needs and provide recommendations when appropriate.
- Complete daily work orders and service documentation.
- Maintain customer reports and records.
- Collaborate with service, technical, and sales teams.
- Keep work areas and equipment clean and organized.
- Follow all ISO, FDA, quality, and safety requirements.
- Support the Company's Vision, Mission, and Values.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience repairing, machining, or handling delicate metal instruments.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to work independently and travel to customer locations.
- Flexibility to work overtime or adjusted schedules when needed.
- Technical, vocational, or associate degree.
- Experience in medical devices, healthcare, sterile processing, manufacturing, or mechanical repair.
- Familiarity with surgical instrumentation and Sterile Processing Department (SPD) operations, including instrument handling, inspection, and care.
- Mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- Ability to read and follow technical instructions and procedures.
- Basic math skills and ability to maintain accurate records.
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers, coworkers, and management.
