About the RoleThis is a rare opportunity to step into a Strategic HR leadership role with a growing, privately held manufacturing company that still values its tight-knit, people-first culture. This role is based on-site at a manufacturing facility and is bolstered by real company support and a runway to influence change. Build modern HR infrastructure, strengthen engagement/employee development, and help guide the organization through its next phase of growth from an HR perspective.
Responsibilities- Drive engagement initiatives and career pathing to retain top performers
- Identify high-potential employees and build development plans
- Partner with leadership to reduce turnover, especially in direct labor populations
- Coordinate high-volume hourly hiring through staffing partners
- Advise leadership on hiring trends and market competitiveness
- Improve and formalize onboarding checklists and training frameworks
Identify opportunities for workforce grants and training subsidies - Ensure compliance with federal/state employment laws and HR best practices
- Serve as the go‑to HR resource for managers and employees
- Help preserve the company’s small-company feel while scaling processes
- Plan team-building and engagement initiatives
- 5–10 years of progressive HR experience with true full-cycle HR ownership
- Proven ability to run an HR function independently (not purely task-based support)
- Strong knowledge of employment law, compliance, and HR best practices
- Experience recruiting both professional and hourly roles
- Comfortable being highly visible on the production floor daily
- Tech‑savvy with HRIS experience (Paylocity preferred) and openness to AI tools
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to support a flexible schedule including early onsite coverage twice weekly
- Bachelor’s degree and/or SHRM certification
- Background in training program development or SOP creation

Base salary: $90K – $120K depending on experience
Annual bonus: typically ~1 week of salary (not guaranteed)
Schedule:
Monday–Friday with flexibility; two early onsite days weekly (6:30 AM) to support off‑shift teams
Work environment: fully onsite, high‑visibility leadership role (North of Hartford)
