Agile Coach

Location:

Hartford, CT. MUST be Local to Hartford, CT.

We are seeking an experienced Agile Coach to join our IT PMO Team - Agile Practice. This role focuses on supporting teams and stakeholders as they evolve their ways of working within a mature, process-oriented organization.

We're looking for someone to support sustainable agile adoption through incremental improvement rather than wholesale organizational change. You'll work with teams at various stages of their agile journey, helping them improve delivery capabilities while respecting existing governance structures and business needs.

The ideal candidate brings deep agile experience but is equally comfortable with traditional project management approaches. You'll help teams find the right balance between agile principles and organizational realities, always focusing on outcomes over methodology.

Experience & Knowledge
  • 7+ years of hands-on agile experience in professional environments a MUST
  • 3+ years in an agile coaching role supporting multiple teams a MUST
  • Strong understanding of Scrum, Kanban, and other agile frameworks
  • Demonstrated experience working in traditional or hybrid project management environments
  • Practical knowledge of traditional project management approaches and how to integrate them with agile practices
  • Experience coaching teams through incremental improvement

  • Exceptional facilitation skills for workshops, retrospectives, and difficult conversations
  • Strong coaching mindset - asking questions rather than providing all answers
  • Adaptability - able to adjust approach based on team maturity, organizational context, and specific needs
  • Systems thinking - understanding how organizational structures, incentives, and culture affect behavior
  • Communication versatility - comfortable with technical teams, executives, and everyone in between
  • Cultural sensitivity - ability to work effectively in a global organization with diverse perspectives

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in regulated industries (insurance, financial services, healthcare)

  • Experience with both co-located and distributed teams
  • Relevant certifications (CSM, PSM, ICP-ACC, etc.) are valued but not required
  • Understanding of Dev Ops, CI/CD, and technical practices that support agility
  • Familiarity with Azure Dev Ops  (ADO) and/or other agile lifecycle management tools
