Engineer, Systems Engineer

Akkodis is seeking an Engineer for a Contract with a client in Hartford, CT. The ideal candidate will manage and optimize Apigee API platforms on GCP to ensure secure, highly available, and high-performance API ecosystems.

Rate Range: $45/hour to $49/hour;
The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

Engineer Job Responsibilities include:

• Manage, operate, and support Apigee Edge/X/Hybrid platforms on Google Cloud to ensure high availability and reliability.
• Monitor API performance, troubleshoot production issues, and lead incident response using SRE best practices (SLIs/SLOs/alerts).
• Automate deployments, upgrades, and patching through CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure best practices.
• Optimize API proxy performance, scalability, and lifecycle management across environments.
• Implement and enforce API security controls including OAuth, JWT, mTLS, and access policies.
• Collaborate with application, cloud, and Dev Ops teams on capacity planning, architecture improvements, and platform stability.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 6-8 years of experience in API platform engineering, SRE, or cloud operations.
• Strong hands-on expertise with Apigee (Edge/X/Hybrid) and Google Cloud Platform, including API lifecycle management.
• Proven experience implementing SRE practices, CI/CD automation, and API security controls (OAuth, JWT, mTLS) in production environments.

Pay Details: $45.00 to $49.00 per hour
