OverviewJoin our team as we help shape the future. Hartford Fire Insurance Company in Hartford, CT has the following opening for a Sr. Data Engineer.
Responsibilities- Design and develop high quality, scalable software modules for the next generation analytics solution suite.
- Prototype high‑impact innovations, catering to changing business needs by leveraging new technologies such as AWS cloud and big data.
- Possess functional knowledge and skills reflective of a competent practitioner able to deliver on work of highest technical complexity.
- Consult with functional management to analyse short‑and‑long‑range business requirements and recommend innovations that anticipate future impact.
- Work closely with client management to identify and specify complex business requirements and processes for diverse development platforms and computing environments.
- Provide highly technical consulting and leadership in identifying and implementing new uses of information technologies that assist functional business units in meeting strategic objectives.
- Review the disaster recovery plan to ensure new systems promote uninterrupted operation.
- Coordinate activities with cross‑functional IT unit stakeholders such as database, operations, telecommunications, and technical support.
- Research and evaluate alternative solutions and recommend the most efficient and cost‑effective one for system design.
- Formulate logical statements of business problems and devise, test, and implement efficient, cost‑effective application program solutions.
- Prepare charts, tables and diagrams to assist in analysing problems, utilizing various business, scientific, engineering and mathematical techniques.
- Analyse existing system and programming logic to provide more efficient machine operations or identify difficulties, revising logic and procedures as necessary.
- Act as the primary technical point of contact for interactions with other cross‑functional units and teams.
- Assign personnel to various projects or application components and direct their activities.
- Review, evaluate, and prepare periodic activity and progress reports for the team.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field and 5 years of experience in a related occupation.
- 5 years of experience in ETL, Data Integration, Informatica, and IDMC.
- At least 2 years of experience in Cloud (AWS) technologies, Oracle, SQL, Python, PySpark, Unix/Linux shell scripting, Autosys scheduling, version‑control tools, data‑warehouse applications, data modeling, big‑data distributed processing (HDFS, Hive, Spark), AWS, data analytical languages, and programming in Python.
Salary Range: $ to $170,040.0 Annual base pay may vary based on performance, proficiency and demonstration of required competencies. The base pay is just one component of the total compensation package which may include bonuses, long‑term incentives and on‑the‑spot recognition.
