Travelers is seeking a Senior Architect to join our organization as we grow and transform our Enterprise Technology Solutions organization. As a Senior Architect for Dev Sec Ops Platform Transformation within the Enterprise Technology Solutions Architecture organization, you will serve as the primary technical advocate for our internal engineering customers as engineering teams increasingly build and deploy AI-powered solutions. You will build trust-based relationships across all lines of business, translate engineering needs into platform strategy, and influence enterprise-wide technical direction.
Responsibilities- Build trust-based relationships with engineering leaders and practitioners across all lines of business.
- Responsible for architecture within one or more segments or domains for a single business unit.
- Advocate for engineering customers while balancing enterprise compliance standards.
- Define and lead technology proof of concepts to ensure feasibility of architecture solutions.
- Participate in driving continuous technology transformation to minimize technical debt.
- Conduct hands‑on prototyping and technology proof of concepts.
- Partner with leadership to ensure proper alignment with technology direction and execution of proof of technologies.
- Define target state architecture and roadmaps.
- Proactively identify opportunities from emerging technology trends to minimize technical debt.
- Support technology modernization initiatives.
- Deliver comprehensive communications about architectural direction.
- Cultivate strong relationships and secure buy‑in.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Technical Expertise & Education
- Bachelor’s degree in technology‑related field or equivalent, with 8+ years of architecture experience.
- Active experience in Dev Sec Ops platform architecture with deep hands‑on experience.
- Expert knowledge of CI/CD platforms (Git Hub Actions, Jenkins, Git Lab CI).
- Strong experience with infrastructure‑as‑code (Terraform, AWS CDK).
- Deep understanding of artifact management, secrets management, supply chain security.
- Current AWS cloud architecture certification or equivalent depth.
- Software engineering background with ability to evaluate approaches and guide implementation.
- Understanding of agentic solution architectures and AI‑assisted engineering workflows.
- Strong architecture and recent hands‑on engineering experience with modern technologies.
- Successfully architected large‑scale technology initiatives.
Leadership & Influence
- Advanced leadership skills with the ability to take action even when there is no clear owner.
- Inspire and motivate others, and be effective at influencing team members.
Strategic & Business Acumen
- Extensive experience working an agile operational model.
- Experience supporting transformational change.
- Ability to adjust plans, priorities and strategies in response to changing circumstances.
- Insurance technology experience preferred.
- Understanding of value creation and business capability models.
- Balance customer advocacy with enterprise governance (audit, legal, cyber, infrastructure).
- Experience in identifying and analyzing current/future problems and opportunities, evaluating information to understand root causes, and exploring alternative solutions for effective decision‑making.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively with teammates to achieve mutually responsible results.
- Extensive experience exercising sound judgment, making decisions and committing to a position.
- Strong and effective verbal, written and listening communication skills.
Must Have
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, related STEM field, or equivalent education and/or work experience.
- 6 additional years of architecture/software engineering experience.
