The OpportunityThe position in the National Accounts Employee Benefits Underwriting organization is responsible for all aspects of risk selection, pricing and proposal for our Group Supplemental Health new business and renewals for 2,000+ lives. You will apply standard underwriting principles and procedures to evaluate, rate and negotiate prices on new business, using in‑depth knowledge of assigned product lines and independent decision making within underwriting policies and procedures.
Howyou will contribute
- Evaluate, price, propose rate and strategy to acquire and renew National Account clients.
- Perform in‑depth risk assessment and pricing of prospective and in‑force customers in conformance with underwriting guidelines and authority limits.
- Provide customer reporting and analytics.
- Partner with sales, national accounts practice leaders and subject‑matter experts to develop comprehensive pricing and solutions for our customers.
- Recommend changes in policies and procedures to be more responsive to emerging client and market needs.
- Proactively manage in‑force block of business to maintain profit and persistency expectations.
- Mentor underwriters and support their development.
- Ability to work with a diverse group of people.
- BA/BS degree preferred.
- Minimum 7+ years of group underwriting experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication, organization, time/work management, interpersonal relationships, and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and adapt to changing demands.
- Motivated, positive, team player.
- Proficient PC skills, including Excel and word processing applications.
- Strong analytical and negotiation skills, with an in‑depth understanding of industry contractual language and provisions.
- High‑level technical understanding of underwriting principles and theory.
Salary Range: $85,200 - $127,800. Eligible for a discretionary annual incentive award based on performance.
