About the Role: Harris Beach Murtha is seeking a Commercial Real Estate Associate to join its sophisticated and collaborative real estate practice. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with senior attorneys on a wide range of commercial real estate transactions, with meaningful responsibility, direct client exposure, and hands‑on deal experience from the outset.
The Commercial Real Estate Associate will have the opportunity to:
- Draft and negotiate purchase and sale agreements, letters of intent, deeds, and related documents for commercial real estate transactions
- Review due diligence, monitor contingencies, review and prepare title objections, survey and environmental reviews, closing documents, and wire transfers
- Coordinate and review title commitments and policies, UCC, judgment, and lien searches, surveys, site plans and leases
- Supervise pre- and post-closing matters, including preparation of documents for recording and filing
- Communicate with clients, banks, attorneys, and additional parties involved with the closing and filings of all transactions
- Coordinate and direct the review, management and preparation of commercial leasing documentation
- Review and negotiate leases including common area maintenance clauses
- Review and monitor agreements with developers, including approvals required prior to draw disbursement and developer payment
- Draft and review initial documentation, obtain approvals, modify documents as necessary, and coordinate document execution
Work Environment and Expectations:
- A hybrid work opportunity in one (or several) of Harris Beach Murtha's Connecticut offices
- Minimum annual billable requirement of 1800 billable hours
- Opportunities to work on sophisticated transactions with experienced practitioners and long‑standing clients
Applications are encouraged and desired if you have:
- 2+ years of commercial real estate and financing experience (required)
- Experience and/or strong interest in land use and zoning transactions (preferred)
- Admission to Connecticut bar or ability to waive in (required)
- Admission to the New York and Massachusetts bars or ability to waive in (preferred)
- A Juris Doctor degree with an ABA accredited law school and be an active member in good standing of the bar
- Strong drafting, analytical, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously with a high degree of professionalism
- Demonstrated commitment to exceptional client service
- Military experience welcome
