Director of Service
- Mechanical

A leading mechanical contractor is looking for a Director of Service
- Mechanical who will lead and grow their commercial mechanical/controls service organization, ensuring safe, reliable and profitable delivery of HVAC and mechanical systems maintenance, repair and installation. This role is responsible for operational strategy, customer satisfaction, workforce development, and technical excellence across mechanical and controls portfolios. The Director will collaborate with sales, operations and construction teams to drive service revenue, optimize dispatch and parts strategy, and deliver consistent, high-quality field performance and project execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership for mechanical and controls service operations, setting performance targets for safety, quality, customer satisfaction and financial results.
  • Oversee daily service delivery including preventive maintenance, emergency repairs, retrofits and small-to-medium projects across commercial properties.
  • Manage and develop regional service managers, supervisors and technicians recruiting, training, coaching and establishing clear career pathways.
  • Ensure technical excellence in troubleshooting and repair of chillers, boilers, VRFs, AHUs, cooling towers and associated mechanical systems.
  • Own P&L for the service organization: budgeting, forecasting, cost control and pricing strategies to maximize profitability.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, HVAC technology, Construction Management or related discipline preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in mechanical/HVAC service operations with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role managing multi-site commercial service teams.
  • Strong technical expertise with chillers, boilers, VRFs, AHUs, cooling towers and commercial HVAC systems, including diagnostics and lifecycle maintenance practices.
  • Proven track record in service P&L management, budgeting, forecasting and driving profitable growth.
  • Hands-on familiarity with field service systems, CMMS, mobile workforce tools and remote monitoring platforms.
  • Willingness to travel regionally, valid drivers license; certifications such as HVACR, NATE, City/State boiler licenses or EPA Section 608 are a plus.
