- Work from written procedures to process, purify, and chemically fabricate products and their compounds through a sequence of batch operations.
- Operate equipment, including reactors, tanks, pumps, mixers, pH meters, level meters, flow meters, valves, and hoses used in the manufacture of said products.
- Handle liquid and solid chemicals using pumps, scales and flow meters.
- Weigh, measure and check raw materials and finished product to ensure that batches manufactured contain proper ingredients and quantities and that accurate inventory is maintained.
- Perform product weighing, packaging, labeling, and boxing operations in accordance with SOP's.
- Locate materials in the warehouse and transport to manufacturing areas using a forklift as needed
- Collect process samples and interface with laboratory personnel for analysis.
- Maintain required log sheets including but not limited to batch tickets, packaging sheets, scrubber operation log, pH meter calibration, and equipment inspections.
- Attend required HSE training including Hazardous Waste Management, emergency response, and Hazard Communication, and demonstrate an acceptable level of understanding of topics.
- Package, mark, and label Hazardous Waste containers.
- Operate equipment and follow procedures in accordance with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001, OHSA'S 18001 standards.
- Communicate with shift leader regarding safety, production, quality, or any other operational issues. Actively participate in shift meetings to assist in work planning and continuous improvement.
- Adheres to all corporate, plant, and safety policies/procedures.
- Wears personal protective equipment as applicable.
- Completes all assigned training including corporate, HSE and Quality specific requirements
- Train other chemical operators in operations, processes, and procedures as needed to ensure efficiencies, safety, and compliance.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- 3+ years of applicable experience making batchs, working and blending chemicals. Chemical manufacturing is highly preferred.
- Experience with sulfide or cyanide gold reaction processes or other precious metals products.
- Experience working in a clean-room environment
- Forklift certification and Hazardous Waste Operations certification preferable
