Part Time Retiree Organizer (17 hours/week) Based in Hartford, CT

With over 12,000 members, CSEA Council 400 is the dominant voice for State of Connecticut Retirees. For decades Council 400 has fought to ensure that everyone has a secure retirement and to protect the benefits that our members have worked hard to earn.

As the Retiree Organizer you will play an integral role in moving our Council forward and ensuring that we have an engaged, informed, & growing membership. You will work directly with our members to empower state retirees while building an engaged, informed, and effective organization, as well as helping with insurance and pension issues.

Responsibilities include:

  • Organize retirees to build political and collective power
  • Act as a resource for CSEA members on CT health and pension benefits
  • Maintain and update membership database — cleaning and organizing member records
  • Create and distribute chapter meeting reminders and Zoom links
  • Assist with survey creation, distribution, and data collection
  • Prepare monthly reports including retirement membership data
  • Coordinate texting campaigns
  • Assist with mailing coordination and distribution
  • Attend local chapter meetings throughout Connecticut — in person and virtually as needed
  • Other responsibilities and duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Dependable self-starter with a strong work ethic
  • Commitment to empowering individuals in the fight for a secure retirement
  • Ability to work independently
  • Must possess a vehicle and valid driver's license
  • Ability and willingness to travel out of state occasionally
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace and Zoom

Organizing or labor relations experience is preferred but highly qualified entry-level individuals are encouraged to apply. This part-time position does not include healthcare benefits - all other benefits provided on a pro-rata basis. Email responses are encouraged. Work hours are collaborative - we will work with the selected candidate to establish a schedule that meets both operational and employee needs.

CSEA, SEIU Local 2001, is an Equal Opportunity employer.
