Job Summary
The post‑anesthesia care Unit (PACU) nurse cares for patients who have undergone anesthesia. The PACU nurse is responsible for observing and treating a patient post‑operation and ensuring they safely wake from anesthesia. The PACU nurse must monitor vital signs and levels of consciousness to confirm that sedation is wearing off properly, that no adverse reactions occur, and that patients are regaining consciousness.
Responsibilities- Observe and treat patients post‑operation.
- Monitor vital signs and level of consciousness.
- Ensure safe awakening from anesthesia and identify adverse reactions.
- Current RN licensure in the state of employment.
- ACLS and PALS certification per contract requirements.
- Current CPR certification if applicable.
- TB Questionnaire, PPD or chest X‑ray if applicable.
- Current Health certificate per contract or state regulation.
- Meet all federal, state, and local requirements.
- Be at least 18 years of age.
