Position: Travel Nurse RN - OR - Operating Room - $2,168 per week

Overview

TNAA Total Med RN is seeking a travel nurse RN (OR—Operating Room) for a 13‑week assignment in Hartford, Connecticut.

Duration: 13 weeks | 36 hours per week | 12‑hour day shifts | Type:

Responsibilities

As an OR Travel Nurse, you will assist physicians and the medical staff in caring for surgical patients, providing pre‑ and post‑surgery care and education.

  • Assist in monitoring and observing patients during surgery, and responding to potential complications.
  • Provide basic bedside care.
  • Prepare, administer, and record prescribed medication; report adverse reactions.
  • Serve as the communication liaison between patients' families and the operating team.
  • Ensure proper procedures are performed on the correct patient.
  • Initiate patient education plan as prescribed by physician; teach patients and families medication and home‑care needs.
  • Stand and walk for long periods; lift 20–50 lbs safely.
  • Handle hazards from chemicals or infectious disease exposure.
Circulating OR Nurse Duties
  • Respond to comfort and safety needs of the patient.
  • Accurately care for and handle specimens.
  • Monitor equipment used during surgery.
  • Inventory surgical items before and after procedures.
Scrub OR Nurse Duties
  • Selection and handling of surgical instruments and supplies during procedures.
  • Inventory surgical items before and after procedures.
RN First Assistant Duties
  • Assist physicians by delivering direct surgical care.
  • Help control bleeding.
  • Suture patients following surgery.
Requirements*
  • ACLS, BLS, and 2 years of recent acute care experience (circulating or scrub).
  • Additional certifications may be required before beginning an assignment.

Pay and
