Position Purpose

At Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center, the Registered Nurse (RN) in the Main PACU provides post-operative care for patients recovering from complex surgeries performed in the Main OR of a Level 1 Trauma Center.

What You Will Do

* Provide high-acuity care for patients recovering from trauma, cardiovascular, neurological, and other critical surgeries.

* Manage Phase 1 and 2 recovery, ensuring safe emergence from anesthesia, stabilization, and transfer readiness.

* Collaborate with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and care teams to deliver advanced interventions and uphold perioperative standards.

Minimum Qualifications

Required:

* Graduation from an accredited nursing program with an Associate's degree in Nursing required

* Valid RN license in Connecticut

* The ideal candidate will have one or more years of PACU experience supporting inpatient surgical recovery

* Candidates with Emergency Room or ICU nurses with 2+ years of experience may be considered if they demonstrate expertise in ICU-level ventilated patient care, critical drips (e.g., vasopressors, sedatives), and strong assessment skills.

Note:

Training is not available for candidates without this expertise

Preferred:

* BLS/CPR certification (AHA or ARC)

* ACLS and TNCC certification (support available post-hire)

* Proficiency in ASPAN standards and guidelines

Position Highlights and Benefits

* Full-Time - 40 hours/week - Rotating Day/Evening Shifts

* Two 8-hour shifts and two 12-hour shifts per week

* Variable start times, with weekend rotations of every 3rd weekend

* On-call requirements are based on unit needs. On-call may be required to support off shifts, such as Nights.

* Specialty pay is available exclusively to experienced nurses with one or more years of RN experience
