Neurocritical Care Provider - Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
Hartford Hospital is seeking a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join their Neurocritical Care team. This advanced practitioner‑led team is part of a multidisciplinary group that plans and delivers care for critical neuroscience patients, focusing on neurological and neurosurgical diseases and related disorders. The patient population includes complex strokes, skull base surgery, status epilepticus, tumor resections, spinal cord injury, DBS, and other complex conditions.

Full‑time, day/night rotating with premium differentials offered. No call.

Under established guidelines and in collaboration or supervision with the practice physician(s), advanced practitioners perform routine physical examinations and formulate medical, educational, and psychosocial plans to treat patients.
In consultation with the physician(s) and care team members, advanced practitioners develop plans for further evaluation of health needs, such as referrals to other health team members or specialists.
Advanced practitioners provide appropriate treatment for problems within the scope of the provider’s practice as designated by protocols, identify problems outside of their scope, and refer appropriately to a physician.
Support & ResourcesHartford Health Care offers dedicated support for advanced practitioners through the Office of Advanced Practice, directed by the System Director of Advanced Practice. The organization utilizes the Epic clinical and informatics platform to promote improved patient outcomes and streamlined continuity of care.
Requirements- Licensure:
Unrestricted State of Connecticut medical license (or eligible) - Training:
Certified or board‑eligible Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner - Experience:
New graduates welcome to apply; 1+ year in an acute care/neurocritical care setting preferred - Onboarding:
Extensive onboarding, including a 6‑month immersion orientation and thorough supervision for procedures
