Position SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to provide comprehensive psychiatric care through a remote/telehealth model. The PMHNP will assess, diagnose, and treat patients with mental health disorders, manage psychiatric medications, and provide psychotherapy as appropriate. This role requires independent clinical judgment while collaborating with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure safe, ethical, and effective patient care.
Key Responsibilities• Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, including mental status exams and risk assessments
• Assess current and past psychiatric history, including substance use, violence risk, and suicidal ideation
• Develop and implement individualized, evidence-based treatment plans
• Prescribe, manage, and adjust psychiatric medications while monitoring effectiveness and side effects
• Provide psychotherapy and counseling services as clinically appropriate
• Collaborate with physicians, psychologists, social workers, and nursing staff to coordinate care
• Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatment options, and medication compliance
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation using EMR systems
• Ensure compliance with ethical standards, confidentiality requirements, and regulatory guidelines
• Stay current with psychiatric research, best practices, and continuing education
• Active, unrestricted Nurse Practitioner (NP) license in Connecticut
• Certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) through ANCC
• Master's degree in Nursing with Psychiatric-Mental Health specialization (required)
• Minimum 2+ years of experience working as a PMHNP
• Strong knowledge of psychiatric medications and treatment modalities
• Experience with medication management across a broad range of psychiatric conditions
• Proficiency with electronic medical record (EMR) systems
• Excellent communication, clinical judgment, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently in a remote care environment
• Commitment to patient confidentiality, ethical practice, and ongoing professional development
