We are seeking an experienced OR Circulator to join our outpatient surgery center specializing exclusively in orthopedic procedures. The ideal candidate is a skilled perioperative nurse with a strong orthopedic background who thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented ambulatory surgery environment. This role focuses on delivering safe, efficient, and patient-centered care throughout the perioperative process.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the circulating nurse for orthopedic surgical procedures in an outpatient setting
- Ensure operating rooms are properly prepared, equipped, and stocked for scheduled cases
- Verify patient identity, procedure, and surgical site in compliance with safety protocols
- Maintain sterile technique and ensure adherence to infection prevention standards
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, surgical technologists, and other team members
- Manage intraoperative documentation and patient care records accurately and timely
- Advocate for patient safety, comfort, and dignity throughout the surgical experience
- Anticipate surgeon and procedural needs specific to orthopedic cases (e.g., implants, instrumentation, positioning)
- Assist with room turnover and efficiency between cases
- Comply with all regulatory, accreditation, and facility policies and procedures
Qualifications
- Active RN license in good standing (state-specific requirements apply)
- Minimum of 2 years of OR Circulating experience, with a strong emphasis on orthopedic surgery
- Experience in an outpatient or ambulatory surgery center preferred
- Thorough knowledge of orthopedic procedures, instruments, implants, and equipment
- BLS required; ACLS preferred (or ability to obtain)
- Strong communication, organizational, and critical-thinking skills
- Ability to work efficiently in a high-volume surgical environment

- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Lift, position, and transfer patients as needed
- Manual dexterity to handle surgical equipment and supplies
