Travel Operating Room RN

Job Summary

TNAA Total Med RN is seeking a travel RN for an Operating Room (OR) position in Hartford, Connecticut. This 13‑week assignment involves 8‑hour days (40 hours per week) and is travel employment.

• Assist physicians and medical staff in caring for surgical patients.
• Provide pre‑ and post‑surgery care and education to patients.
• Act as the communication liaison between patients' families and the operating team.
• Ensure that the correct procedure is performed on the correct patient.
• Initiate patient education plans as prescribed, teaching medication and home‑care needs.
• For Circulating OR Nurses: respond to patients' comfort and safety needs, handle specimens, monitor equipment, inventory surgical items.
• For Scrub OR Nurses: select and handle surgical instruments, inventory items.
• For RN First Assistants: assist physicians with direct surgical care, control bleeding, perform sutures.

• BLS certification (minimum 1 year).
• 1–2 years recent acute care experience as a circulating or scrub nurse, and/or RN first assistant.
• Ability to stand, walk for long periods, lift up to 20 pounds routinely, and handle up to 50 pounds occasionally.
• Comfortable with exposure to chemicals or infectious materials in the operating room environment.
• Additional certifications may be required before assignment.
