Lead Nurse

The New Hartford Public Schools is currently accepting applications for a full-time Lead nurse (RN) position. A current CT RN License is required along with up-to-date CPR/First Aid Training.

New Hartford Public Schools is seeking a skilled and dedicated Lead Nurse to join our team for the upcoming school year.

• Lead Nurse reviews and creates all health plans and supports LPNs in the district.
• The ability to assess and evaluate the health status of each student in order to make a nursing diagnosis and establish a health plan in collaboration with the lead nurse.
• The ability to interpret the health status and medical findings to the student, parent and staff responsible for the child.
• The ability to recommend to the administration modifications in the educational program for a student due to changes in the student’s health or medical status.
• Excellent communication skills to serve as liaison between the parents, school and community in health matters.
• Knowledge of and experience in performing health screenings.
• The ability to observe students, as needed, to detect health problems/issues.
• Excellent organizational skills needed to maintain cumulative health records on all students.
• The ability to assume responsibility to render emergency care to a student or staff member when injured or ill.
• The ability to review and recommend revisions in school nursing policies and procedures.
• The ability to digitally document medical notes and information using the district wide data collection tool (Power School).
• General ability to use technology to store information digitally, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with staff and families.
• Any other related duties as assigned by the administration.

• RN
• Currently licensed by the State of Connecticut Department of Health
• Current certification in CPR
• $57,000-$60,000 depending on experience (with benefits)
• $3,000 Head Nurse/RN Stipend
• $2,500 ESY Nurse Stipend upon selection/assignment
