Nurse Manager, Inpatient Oncology

Saint Francis Hospital, a member of Trinity Health Of New England, is seeking a compassionate and skilled nursing leader to serve as Nurse Manager, Inpatient Oncology. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced oncology nurse, charge nurse, assistant nurse manager, supervisor, or emerging nurse leader to guide a high-performing team dedicated to delivering exceptional cancer care.

The Nurse Manager provides clinical and operational leadership for a dynamic inpatient oncology unit, supporting patients across the cancer care continuum. Working collaboratively with physicians, advanced practice providers, pharmacists, rehabilitation specialists, and other interdisciplinary team members, the Nurse Manager fosters a culture of excellence, safety, professional development, and patient-centered care.

Reporting to Nursing Leadership, the Nurse Manager will lead initiatives that enhance quality outcomes, colleague engagement, operational performance, and the overall patient experience while supporting the strategic goals of Saint Francis Hospital and Trinity Health.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop nursing staff within the Inpatient Oncology unit.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and professional growth.
  • Support colleague engagement, retention, and succession planning.

Clinical Excellence

  • Ensure safe, high-quality, evidence-based oncology care.
  • Promote patient safety, quality outcomes, and nursing best practices.
  • Partner with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient care.

Operational Leadership

  • Oversee daily unit operations, staffing, scheduling, and resource management.
  • Monitor key performance metrics and drive continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.

Patient Experience

  • Champion compassionate, patient- and family-centered care.
  • Promote a healing environment through respectful communication and service excellence.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
  • Current Connecticut Registered Nurse (RN) license or eligibility to obtain.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of acute care nursing experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience such as Charge Nurse, Clinical Coordinator, Assistant Nurse Manager, Nurse Supervisor, Preceptor or similar role.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Oncology nursing experience in an inpatient acute care setting.
  • Previous leadership experience in Oncology, Hematology, Infusion, Medical-Surgical Oncology, or related specialty areas.
  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN), MHA, MBA, or related advanced degree.
  • Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN®) certification.
  • Experience with performance improvement, quality initiatives, and employee engagement strategies.

Salary Range: $100,775 - $161,200

Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
