This Research Analyst will assist with Management Information Systems (MIS) work for the Bureau of Aging, including statewide data collection, analysis, reporting and evaluation, and provide technical support under the direction of the BOA’s Associate Research Analyst.
Job Duties- Assist the Associate Research Analyst with data collection and analysis.
- Implement data collection tools including survey methodologies.
- Provide statistical analysis and evaluate qualitative and quantitative data.
- Provide technical support to staff and contractors for data collection and reporting.
- Extract, apply and analyze data from multiple sources, such as the Census Bureau and American Community Survey, to identify population needs for the State Plan on Aging and grant applications.
- Assist the Associate Research Analyst with the preparation and submission of the annual State Performance Report to the federal Administration for Community Living.

- Deliver aging and disability services responsive to the needs of Connecticut citizens.
- Provide leadership on aging and disability issues statewide.
- Co‑ordinate aging and disability programs and services in employment, education, independent living, accessibility, and advocacy.

- Serve as a resource on aging and disability issues at the state level.

Six (6) years of professional experience in research, data analysis, or economics.
Minimum Qualifications – Substitutions Allowed- College training may be substituted for general experience on the basis of fifteen (15) semester hours equaling one‑half (½) year of experience to a maximum of four (4) years for a Bachelor's degree.
- A Master’s degree in economics, statistics, or a closely related field may be substituted for one (1) additional year of general experience.
- Successful completion of a Connecticut Careers Trainee program approved by the Department of Administrative Services may be substituted for general experience.
- Experience with data management.
- Experience with quantitative analysis, including inferential statistical techniques.
- Experience with developing and implementing data collection tools including utilizing survey methodologies.
- Experience with extracting and analyzing data from more than one source, including data management systems or software platforms.
- Experience with aging or social services programs.
In a state agency, this class is accountable for independently performing a full range of tasks in research design and implementation.
Examples of Duties- Develops and implements formal research projects and assists in these activities on more comprehensive and complex research assignments.
- Analyzes, interprets and prepares data in a variety of ways.
- Prepares narrative and statistical reports.
- Develops computerized databases and analyzes and interprets computer generated reports.
- Performs related duties as required.
