The Dishwasher (Steward) is responsible for maintaining cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of all kitchen areas, dishware, utensils, and food preparation equipment in accordance with Marriott brand standards and health regulations. This role supports the culinary and food & beverage teams to ensure a safe, efficient, and high-quality guest dining experience.
ResponsibilitiesOperate commercial dishwashing machines to clean dishes, glassware, flatware, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment.
Ensure proper sorting, rinsing, washing, and sanitizing of all kitchen and restaurant items.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of dish room, kitchen floors, storage areas, and trash disposal areas.
Assist with set up, cleaning, and breakdown in the cafeteria.
Remove garbage and recycling in a timely and sanitary manner.
Follow all Marriott safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards (including local health codes).
Assist kitchen staff with basic cleaning and support tasks as needed.
Monitor and replenish cleaning supplies and chemicals as required.
Report maintenance issues or equipment malfunctions to a supervisor promptly.
Support banquet operations by ensuring timely turnover of dishes and equipment during events.
Practice safe handling of chemicals and equipment.
High school diploma or equivalent preferred (not always required).
Previous hotel or restaurant experience preferred but not required.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Strong attention to cleanliness and sanitation.
Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
Flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Prolonged standing and walking.
Frequent bending, lifting, pushing, and pulling.
Exposure to heat, water, cleaning chemicals, and loud environments.
