National

Sales Manager

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a National Sales Manager and we would welcome the opportunity to speak to you regarding this position as well as to answer any questions you might have regarding the company.

Job Responsibilities

This position is accountable for booking the National Association convention business that will utilize multiple hotels in the market as well as off-site venues. This position will also uncover opportunities for the center that will impact the city of Hartford.

Essential Responsibilities:

Individuals in this position are seasoned sales professionals working on top producing accounts as well as uncovering new accounts in the following fashion:

  • Determine and recommend prospective customers by analyzing historical and other statistical information (market segment), participating in conducting customer interviews and preparing customer call analysis reports.
  • Solicit Association business within assigned market segments directly and jointly with others through the preparation and execution of action plans.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Within established parameters, quote and negotiate prices with customer representatives confirm space by letter, draw up License Agreements to be signed by the customer, and obtain General Manager’s signature to close the transaction.
  • Upon closing, coordinate and follow up with the event manager to ensure delivery of superior customer service.
  • Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports as required by the Director of Sales & Marketing.
  • As directed, compile and input market intelligence information into Sales Force.
  • As directed, participate in trade shows, conventions, and promotional events within the industry and customer organizations. The ability to travel for multiple days to events or on sales missions.
  • Achieve individual revenue goals by quarter and annually.
Education and Experience Requirements
  • Five years or more of convention sales experience within a Convention & Visitors Bureau or Convention Center
  • Corporate/Convention Sales experience handling large scale meetings, trade shows or conventions.
  • Must have excellent prospecting skills and a proven track record of closing business and meeting goals.
  • Sales Force experience preferred.
  • Microsoft Office
  • Excellent communication skills both in verbal and written abilities.
