Field Service Technician Description

Our client, a globally recognized manufacturer of precision X-ray fluorescence (XRF) and materials-testing instrumentation, is seeking a Field Service Engineer to support customers across the New England territory. In this role, you’ll be responsible for the installation, maintenance, calibration, and repair of advanced analytical instrumentation in customer environments. This is a highly hands‑on, travel‑heavy position ideal for a self‑sufficient technical professional who enjoys troubleshooting complex electronic and mechanical systems while working directly with customers.

You’ll play a critical role in ensuring equipment performance, customer satisfaction, and regulatory compliance, while representing a trusted brand known for precision and innovation.

Field Service Technician Responsibilities
  • Install, configure, and commission XRF and material analysis systems at customer sites
  • Perform preventative maintenance, diagnostics, repair, and calibration of instrumentation
  • Conduct instrument certifications and performance verifications
  • Troubleshoot complex electronic, mechanical, and software issues using schematics and diagnostic tools
  • Ensure compliance with radiation safety standards and company protocols
  • Train customers in equipment operation, safety procedures, and basic maintenance
  • Provide technical support via phone, email, and on‑site service visits
  • Complete detailed service reports and required regulatory documentation
  • Communicate recurring technical issues and improvement opportunities to internal teams
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within the service organization
Field Service Technician Qualifications
  • Associate's degree or a Technical certification required
  • 2+ years of field service experience troubleshooting electronic systems required
  • Experience working in regulated environments (radiation, FDA, ISO) required
  • Strong knowledge of electronic diagnostics (multimeters, oscilloscopes, etc.) required
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings required
  • Must be willing to travel up to 85% locally/domestically
  • U.S. Citizenship required due to federal government/military contract requirements
