Ryder System is seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic Technician to support our Transportation & Logistics fleet within the Automotive department. In this role, you'll diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel trucks and trailers, focusing on safety, reliability, and uptime for our customers. Responsibilities include performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting engine, electrical, brake, and hydraulic systems, completing accurate repair documentation, and following all safety and compliance standards.
You'll collaborate with a dynamic shop team, contribute to continuous improvement, and receive ongoing training to grow your technical skills in a culture that values innovation and teamwork.
Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostics and repair on diesel engines, drive trains, brakes, electrical, and hydraulic systems
- Complete scheduled preventive maintenance on trucks, trailers, and related fleet equipment
- Use diagnostic software, scan tools, and technical manuals to identify and resolve issues
- Inspect vehicles for safety and compliance, documenting findings and repairs accurately
- Maintain clean, safe work areas and follow all Ryder, OSHA, and industry safety standards
- Communicate repair needs, timelines, and status updates to supervisors and customers
- Collaborate with technicians and leadership to improve shop processes and reduce downtime
- Order and track parts as needed, ensuring efficient turnaround on repairs
- Support training and mentoring of junior technicians as required
- Participate in continuous improvement and technical training programs offered by Ryder
