Overview
Job Summary:
We are seeking a Lead Java Engineer to collaborate across engineering disciplines including design, architecture, configuration, and qualification. The ideal candidate will be a Java Subject Matter Expert with strong technical depth, hands-on problem-solving skills, and experience building scalable, high-performance systems in the Financial Services domain.
Job Title: Lead Java Engineer
Location: NY / NJ / CT
Job Type: Contract
- Act as a technical lead and Java SME across engineering teams
- Design and implement scalable APIs using Core Java and Spring Boot
- Drive architecture decisions focusing on scalability, performance, and reliability
- Build and enhance event-driven applications using pub-sub communication models
- Lead legacy application modernization and enhancements
- Apply best practices in microservices, DDD, observability, and security
- Perform performance tuning, troubleshooting, and optimization
- Ensure robust API design including retries, exception handling, and fault tolerance
- Expert in Core Java (multithreading, streams, transaction management)
- Strong experience with Spring Boot and RESTful API development
- Microservices architecture and Domain Driven Design (DDD)
- Event-driven architecture, messaging, and pub-sub systems
- Performance tuning, testing, and observability
- Strong understanding of security principles and API reliability patterns
- API design from high-level requirements to implementation
- High availability, low latency, and disaster recovery design
- Knowledge of monolithic, microservices, and serverless architectures
- Experience handling retries, failures, and inter-service communication
