Position SummaryTravelers is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to help grow and transform our Technology landscape. The role involves advanced end-to-end engineering tasks, including design, development, analysis, configuration, testing, debugging, troubleshooting, documentation, and health monitoring. The engineer will consult with users, drive complex initiatives, provide technical leadership, and embed GenAI technologies into our ecosystem.
Responsibilities- Design, develop, analyze, configure, test, debug, troubleshoot, document, and monitor software components.
- Consult with users to determine hardware, software, or system functional specifications.
- Act as a subject matter expert across multiple applications, systems, and technologies.
- Drive the planning and execution of complex initiatives and provide technical guidance and mentorship.
- Elevate engineering maturity by championing modern delivery patterns, automation, and resiliency practices.
- Enable domain-aligned teams to operate with greater autonomy through modular, API‑driven solutions.
- Lead investigation and resolution of critical, high‑impact problems, defects, and incidents.
- Seek opportunities where technology can improve the business, and advocate for technology solutions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- 5+ years of programming and development experience.
- Experience with AWS Cloud.
- Proficiency in Python and .NET.
- Familiarity with GenAI tools such as Git Hub Co‑Pilot and Claude.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, STEM field, or equivalent education and/or work experience.
- Advanced delivery skills, including software design strategy, automated testing, and quality feedback loops.
- Domain expertise with strong business partnerships and influence on priorities.
- Strong problem‑solving skills using data, prototypes, and impact measurement.
- Excellent communication skills, able to explain technology concepts to business stakeholders.
- Leadership experience, able to inspire and motivate team members.
