Overview
Goodwin Park Golf Course is a welcoming and active 27-hole municipal facility in Hartford with approximately 40,000 rounds played annually on the South Course and the North Course (affectionately known as The Flat Nine). First Tee - Connecticut Management is responsible for the golf operations and works with the City of Hartford to ensure a welcoming environment for all players and customers.
As a key member of the Goodwin Park team, the Golf Operations Professional will collaborate with the Head Golf Professional in all aspects of the business including daily play, scheduling and fulfillment of tournaments, leagues and outings, golf instruction, merchandising, etc. The Golf Operations Professional must be able to provide highly efficient and superior customer service while maintaining meticulous records associated with rounds played and revenue.
The right candidate will possess a personable and professional demeanor in order to engage all customers.
Opportunities to teach privately and as part of various programs conducted at the course with local organizations (SHE Golfs, First Tee - Connecticut, PGA Junior League, etc.).
All employees of First Tee - Connecticut Management are required to submit to a background check and to complete youth safety training immediately upon hire.
Seasonal Role (40 weeks) March 15 - December 15
Experience Required- A love for the game of golf and a desire to learn the business of golf.
- Organizational skills to handle multiple duties with minimal supervision.
- Positive attitude, professional manner and appearance in all situations.
- Create and maintain a positive and customer-friendly environment that encourages the lifelong sport of golf.
- Operate modern office equipment, software and operating systems/applications including Golf Genius and Fore Up.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted during work.
- Ability to work variable hours including (required) evenings, weekends and holidays.
- Utilize the Point-of-Sale system (Fore Up) to ensure proper tracking and reconciliation of daily play.
- Utilize tournament software (Golf Genius) to organize a full schedule of golf outings and weekly competitions.
- Clearly and accurately communicates with the public regarding fees, policies, rules and general information.
- Effectively manage various types of tournaments and leagues from start to finish, including participation in planning meetings.
- Coordinate individual and group instructional activities.
- Provide knowledgeable golf instruction to players of all skill levels.
- Manage the daily opening and closing of the golf operation as needed.
- Performs other appropriate tasks assigned by the Head Golf Professional.
