Usual working space is a well‑ventilated area. Requires standing, walking, turning, bending, stooping, and lifting. Clear speech to communicate effectively with customers (e.g., patients, families, and other team members). Fine and gross motor skills. Environment may be stressful at times, therefore the ability to work under stressful conditions is necessary. Lifting up to 50 lbs may be required; anything over 50 lbs should be a team lift or with the use of a lifting aid.

Medical couriers transport important documents, supplies, and specimens between facilities. The role is critical to ensure the integrity of samples and records. Medical couriers maintain vigilance during transport and perform minor maintenance tasks.

• Follow pick‑up and delivery destinations per route schedule.
• Handle non‑scheduled pick‑ups or deliveries as directed by the Director(s) or designee.
• Assess pickups as emergent or urgent to determine scheduling adjustments.
• Chart the shortest and most efficient route using maps or GPS.
• Drive delivery vehicle ensuring haul integrity at all times.
• Picks up parcels containing medical records, charts, and patient samples; reads and understands care instructions.
• Place or stack parcels safely in the vehicle with corresponding paperwork and receipts.
• Verify the recipient’s identity and obtain signatures on receipts, ensuring all correlating paperwork is delivered.
• Return any undelivered packages to the facility and provide valid reasons for failures.
• Perform preventive and regular maintenance on the delivery vehicle, including tire air pressure and fueling.
• Perform general maintenance duties between scheduled routes.
• May be requested to be a member of the QI team.
• Frequently access email to stay updated on organizational information and communicate with staff.
• Follow all procedures according to established OCH policies, complying with legal and regulatory requirements.
