Job Summary
Registered Dental Hygienist (Mobile Dental Clinic)
Location: White River Junction VA Medical Center – Mobile Dental Clinic
Compensation: Starting at $50.00/hr; hourly is negoitable with years of experinece. Mobile Dental Clinic experience is a plus.
Position Overview
The Registered Dental Hygienist provides preventive and therapeutic oral healthcare services to Veterans under the supervision of a licensed dentist while supporting mobile clinic operations and pilot program goals.
Clinical Care
Perform patient assessments including medical/dental history, vital signs, periodontal evaluations, and charting.
Deliver preventive and therapeutic hygiene services such as prophylaxis, scaling and root planing, polishing, fluoride application, and denture care.
Capture and interpret dental radiographs.
Educate patients on oral hygiene, periodontal disease prevention, tobacco cessation, diet, and oral-systemic health.
Manage stable medically compromised patients and maintain dental instruments.
Support & Collaboration
Assist dentists during examinations and procedures as needed.
Coordinate care with VA dental staff for treatments outside the mobile clinic.
Process Improvement & Reporting
Identify workflow inefficiencies and support quality improvement efforts.
Assist with pilot program reporting and performance tracking.
Participate in stakeholder engagement and feedback initiatives.
Associate degree or higher from an accredited dental hygiene program
, accredited by ADA CODA
.Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice dental hygiene in the State of Vermont
.Minimum of one (1) year of creditable experience as a full-time dental hygienist.
Recent experience serving diverse adult patient populations;
VA dental clinic experience preferred
.Meets radiologic credentialing requirements under 42 C.F.R. Part 75 for dental radiography.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work across diverse teams.
Proficiency in Microsoft 365 Office applications (Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook).
Experience using electronic health record systems and dental terminology.
Current unrestricted U.S. driver’s license and ability to operate a mobile dental clinic (CDL not required).
Willingness to comply with VA vehicle operation requirements and complete training per VA Directive 0637
.Current BLS or CPR certification from an American Heart Association–approved program.
